Houston, Texas - Molina's Cantina, Houston's oldest family-owned and -operated Tex-Mex restaurants, announced today that they are heading west, with a new location planned for 6300 FM 1463 in Fulshear, TX, near the soon-to-be completed West Park Tollway. The restaurant is slated to open late 2019.
After deciding not to renew the lease of its popular Washington Avenue location in September 2017, the immediate goal was to find a location west of Houston, along the Katy and Fulshear corridor, which their longtime customers have been requesting for years. With steady business at newly renovated Westheimer and Bellaire locations, brothers Ricardo, Roberto and Raul Molina III - the third generation to run the family business - are looking forward to serving the West Houston community again.
"We're excited to join this growing community between Fulshear and Katy," says Ricardo Molina. "With great schools and more families moving to this area, the growth has been phenomenal. We hope to fill a void for full-service family restaurants."
Shoppes at Cross Creek, future home of the newest Molina's Cantina, is a premier boutique project developed by Mike Clinard of Clinard Properties. It will be built foundation up on a 5-acre tract of raw land. Molina's Cantina was the first tenant to sign on to the project and will take on a 5800-sq.ft. end cap space with a side patio and breezeway that should sufficiently protect from the sun for pleasant al fresco dining.
The restaurant will seat about 220 and includes a dedicated full-service bar. As for the menu, anticipate the classic Tex-Mex and Mexican fare that Molina's has become known for over the past 77 years, including signature combo plates, old-school enchiladas, sizzling fajitas, tacos, and their legendary Jose's Dip, along with margaritas, Mexican lagers and more.
Once permits are secured and infrastructure is completed, Ricardo Molina anticipates they'll have access to move forward on the restaurant buildout in time to hopefully open by end of 2019.
